Growing up I constantly sought after the approval of others by striving to be the “perfect kid” who did no wrong, never met a stranger, lead prayers in youth group, and went on mission trips during my summers. Through those things, I called myself a Christian and proclaimed to have a relationship with Jesus Christ. The truth, however, was revealed to me at the end of my Freshman Year of college by an older student in Campus Outreach. Through a Bible study and Christian community, I became aware of my brokenness and my daily need for God’s grace for the first time in my life. This led me to put my identity in Christ alone, I no longer wanted to live for the things of this world but for Him who created me and calls me His own. “But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ.” Philippians 3:7
