I was very blessed to grow up in the church, but I did not have a relationship with Christ or have any idea of what the gospel meant. In high school I thought I was good with God because I was the “good” kid. When I got to Troy my freshman year I fell into the party lifestyle. I still thought I was a Christian and could do whatever I wanted. The summer after my freshman year my roommate Ben went to a summer beach project with campus outreach and got saved that summer. The next fall I could tell his life was different than mine.Through him and others involved with campus outreach they taught me what the gospel truly meant and what it meant to surrender my life to Christ. Ben and other men being investing into my life and showing me how to walk with God for a lifetime..

I grew up in the culture of church going. However, I never truly knew Christ at all. Beginning my senior of High School a Woman on staff with a high school ministry reached out to me and intentionally started meeting up with me every week of my senior year. It was through her faithfulness to share the gospel with me over and over again that I felt the weight of my sin and brokenness and the Holy Spirit opened my eyes to who Christ truly was. Since coming to know Christ he has used college (the local church, discipleship, and campus outreach) as a means to grow and teach me more about his character, my inadequacy, and our call to make disciples of all nations. I am thrilled to play a part in the great commission through Campus Outreach Birmingham on the college campus.
