A statement on events and covid-19

In light of the current situations going on in our country and around the world concerning the novel coronavirus (COVID-19), we want to communicate to you how we are handling our summer projects. As an organization, one of our top priorities is the health of our students. We plan to abide by what is recommended by the CDC, whose most recent recommendations stretches into early May. We are aware that this is a very fluid situation and we are monitoring it day by day and making any necessary adjustments. All of our summer projects are scheduled to begin mid-May or later. At this time we hope that we will be able to move forward with Beach Project and overseas mission trips later in the summer.

Our desire is to provide our donors with an easy way to support Campus Outreach’s summer projects that is risk-free to ensure that we are being good stewards of our donor’s dollars.
As a ministry, we want to be mindful of those who are financially supporting summer projects. Based on the current environment and uncertainty of travel with the Coronavirus, we want to make sure that donors are fully aware that there are other ways to help CO fund summer projects and where CO can return your money if a project had to be cancelled.

THERE ARE THREE PRIMARY WAYS TO GIVE TO SUPPORT A SUMMER PROJECT

TO GIVE WITH THE OPTION FOR REFUND IF EVENTS ARE CANCELLED

1. Online Payments (Administered through paperless transactions)

Click the link below for the correct summer project and give electronically. If you give through this link, you will not receive a tax deduction, but you will be eligible for a refund if the project you gave to is cancelled.

ONCE YOU ARE ON THE NEXT PAGE, USE THE DROP DOWN BOX TO SELECT THE PROJECT ON WHICH THE STUDENT IS PARTICIPATING.

The following options Are tax-deductible

2. physical checks

If you would still like to receive a tax deduction for your gift but would only like to give if the coronavirus does not affect our summer projects then you can mail a personal check to our financial office. Please include a note saying “Hold until a final decision" and write the name of the student that is your contact on the note.  Through this option you will still be able to financially participate in our summer ministry efforts and receive a tax deduction.  However, in the event that we have to cancel we will not deposit your check without your permission and can return it to you should you decide to no longer participate.

Please make checks payable to Campus Outreach, and mail them to
PO Box 43737
Birmingham, AL 35243

3. Student giving pages (administered through iDonate)

WITH THIS OPTION, we cannot issue a refund if any project is cancelled

All donations made through iDonate are tax deductible donations made to Campus Outreach (CO). If you choose to give through this avenue you acknowledge that your gift is to CO and you relinquish control of how it is applied to ministry efforts by CO. You also acknowledge that all tax deductible donations are fully nonrefundable to abide by IRS laws and guidelines, even if there is a government ban on travel and gatherings. With this said, iDonate has added a feature to your donation page that will allow you to give online while ensuring that you will only give if we are able to continue the project as planned. Please click here for step-by-step instructions for that way of giving.
ONCE YOU ARE ON THE NEXT PAGE, SEARCH FOR AND CLICK THE STUDENT’S NAME UNDER “FUNDRAISERS” TO GIVE TO THEM.

Campus Outreach is a non-profit organization in which falls under the IRS 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status. All donations are tax-deductible. Per IRS guidelines, for donations to be tax deductible, donors must relinquish control over their donation and the intent of the gift is for the charity and not an individual. While our students have a fundraising goal for summer projects, the donation solicited by the student is intended for the use of Campus Outreach and is therefore non-refundable.

By contributing to summer projects, donors acknowledge that Campus Outreach has full authority to apply contributions specified for this project to other purposes in the event the project is canceled or oversubscribed.
