I grew up hearing about God, but I never understood His grace. With a deep desire to be loved and accepted, I sought fulfillment of this desire through performance. I lived to showcase my strengths while hiding my weaknesses. This was exhausting and unfulfilling.

When I came to Berry College, I got involved with the ministry of Campus Outreach, which God used to reveal to me the freedom that is available to me in Christ. God showed me that there is nothing that I can do to earn His favor, and in fact, I don’t even have to try. God sent His son Jesus to live a perfect life and die the death I deserved, which cancelled the record of debt that stood against me (Col. 2:14). Hearing that Jesus performed perfectly on my behalf and that His performance enabled me to become a child of God was the answer to my deep desire to be loved and accepted.
